Raymond Lee Chaffin, age 76, and a resident of Lewisville, Texas, passed away on May 1, 2008 in Dallas. Raymond was born August 24, 1931 in Davis, Oklahoma to Loyd and Muriel Chaffin. He was a charter founding member of the Lewisville Christian School. He served as an elder of the Church of Christ in Lewisville, Lubbock, and Lake Dallas. He was employed for many years as a Customer Service Agent for Braniff Airlines in Lubbock, Tulsa, and Dallas. He also served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. Raymond is survived by his wife, Betty Kathryn Buie Chaffin, whom he married on February 16, 1956. He is also survived by his son, Tim Chaffin and his wife, SueAnn; grandchildren, Ben and Jesse Chaffin; and a brother, Don Chaffin. Ray loved traveling and adored Hawaii where he spent the last six months with his family. Danny Ray Martin, 60, a director at Camp Arrowhead, passed away Friday, May 2, 2008 in Cleburne.
Danny Ray was born July 10, 1947 in Glasgow, KY, to Elton Ray and Bobbie Jo Sanford Martin. He married Susan Fuller on November 29, 1969 in Indiana. He had 40 years of construction experience and seven years of camping experience. He was a member of the Nazarene Church and was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife, Susie Martin of Cleburne; sons, Shane Martin and wife, Valerie, of Lampasas and Carl Martin and wife, Nancy, of Lewisville; daughters, Cheri Martin of Lewisville, Lori Martin of Denton and Danielle Martin of Cleburne; grandchildren, Hailey, Kayla, Alexis, Devin and Cheyenne Martin; mother, Bobbie Jo Martin of Attica, IN, and brother, Jim Martin of Attica, IN. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville. Memorials may be made to Camp Arrowhead. Delmus "Del" Steele, age 75, of Lewisville, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Del was born April 30, 1932 to Joseph Shoven Steele and Julia Head Steele in Laural Hill, Florida. Del married Katheryn "Gerry" Giles on March 11, 1959. Del is survived by his wife, Gerry Steele of Lewisville; sons, Stephen Delmus Steele and his wife, Kristi, of Flower Mound, Douglas Albert Steele and his wife, Cyndi, of Flower Mound; brothers, J.S. Steele and his wife, Floyce, of Baker, Florida, Dewitt Steele and his wife, Helen, of Baker, Florida, Lamar Steele and his wife, Kay, of Milton, Florida, Bert Steele and his wife, Bobbie, of Statham, Georgia, and Winston Steele and his wife, Barbara, of Baker Florida; and four grandchildren, Adam, Brady, Jacob and Katie. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2008 at The Village Church, 1700 Highland Village Rd., Highland Village, TX 75077. Interment will follow in the Old Hall Cemetery. Don Lewis Apperson, age 68, and a resident of Lewisville, Texas, passed away on April 15, 2008. Don was born February 14, 1940 to Audrey and Pauline Apperson in Lubbock, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Nell Apperson; two daughters, Tammy Lyn Goldthorn and her husband, Bur7k, and Stacey Donnell Hulbert and her husband, Joseph; and one son, Lewis Dean Apperson and his wife, Michelle. He is also survived by five grandchildren; as well as two brothers and two sisters, Kenneth Apperson, Fred Apperson, Paula Greene and Jane Reese. A visitation was held on Thursday, April 17, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dalton & Son Funeral Home in Lewisville. Funeral Services were held on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Dalton & Son Funeral Home, Reverend Stephen Hatfield officiating. Sammy E. Ellis, age 87, of Lewisville, TX, passed away Monday, April 14, 2008, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 16, 1920 in Floyd, TX, to Samuel Ernest (Dudd) Ellis, Sr., and Hallie Blakemore Ellis. Sammy married Mary Alice Bennett on April 7, 1940 in Dallas. They joined the First United Methodist Church of Lewisville in 1953. He worked as an engineer for the U.S. Corps of Engineers for many years. Sammy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary; children, Ernest W. Ellis, Kay Cason, Larry M. Ellis and Kent Ellis; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and by a brother, Wallace Ellis. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Ellis on January 29, 2004. Funeral service was at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at First United Methodist Church of Lewisville. Rev. Paul Sackett and Rev. Russell Floyd officiated. Interment followed at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. LaVerne Moseley, age 79, a longtime resident of Lewisville, passed away peacefully on her birthday, Friday, April 4, 2008, at her home after a year-long battle with cancer. She was a devoted and inspiring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was happiest when surrounded by her loving family. She led a life that exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman and found strength in the Lord and joy in her family, her home and her many artistic hobbies. She was born April 4, 1929 in Denton, Texas, to Jesse Burl Curry and Willie Jewel Bridges Curry. LaVerne married K.B. Moseley, Jr. who preceded her in death on May 2, 1975. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Lewisville. She is survived by her children, Dottie Husers of Corinth, Debbie Knox of Haslet, Danna Ryan of Lewisville, Darrell Moseley of Bartonville and Darla Hinchey of Corinth; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Wanda McElroy of Gladewater, Texas, and Allagene Caudle of Fort Worth. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Lewisville. Interment followed at Old Hall Cemetery. Rev. Kenneth Wells and Rev. Paul Sackett officiated. James O. Bratton, Sr., 68, of Lewisville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2008. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a devoted husband, father, brother, adoring grandfather, uncle, and lifelong follower of Jesus Christ. He was born December 9, 1939 in Cookeville, TX, to J.D. Bratton and Ima Cox Bratton. Jim served in the United States Navy for four years. He married Sara Rice Blount on March 16, 1984 in Lewisville. Jim retired from The Colony High School in 2006 and was a faithful member of Lake Shore Baptist Church in Lake Dallas. He will be missed by his loving family: wife, Sara; children, James O. Bratton, Jr., and his wife, Lisa, of Fort Worth, Rebecca Minyard and her husband, Bill, of Keller, Robert Blount and Michael Bratton both of Lewisville; grandchildren, Bobby, Ariel, Rachel and Mitchell; sister, Judy Morgan of Everett, Washington, and brother, Charly Bratton and his wife, Vicki, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Lake Shore Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville. Rev. Homer Walkup will officiate. Nancy Terrell, age 91, of Lewisville, TX, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in Lewisville. She was born March 5, 1917 in Washington, D.C., to Prosper and Nancy Matthews Powell. Nancy married Bobby Terrell, who preceded her in death. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lewisville.
She is survived by her sons, Steve Casey and wife, Sandy, of Corinth, and Jack Casey of Tampa, Florida; grandchild, Lance Gunn and wife, Karen; great-grandchild, Justin Gunn; nephew, Rick Wade and wife, Emma, of Garland; niece, Nancy Zapulla of Lynchburg, Virginia; great-nephews, Stephen and Michael Wade; and great-niece, Elizabeth Ashby and husband, Clay, of Madison Heights, Virginia.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville.

Mary M. England, age 91, of Lewisville, passed away Monday, March 24, 2008, in Lewisville. She was born February 6, 1917 in Lewisville to Ben F. Savage and Mollie Burgoon Savage. Mary married Emmett "Katy" England on July 16, 1935 in Lewisville. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2001.
Mary was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Lewisville, where she was a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class. She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda J. England of Lewisville.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Interment will follow at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service.
