Edwards, Martha Jane

Martha Jane Edwards, 75, of Denison, Texas, was born Nov. 9, 1932, in Dallas, Texas, and passed away Feb. 24, 2008, in Denison, Texas.

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Hookins and husband, Larry of Bonham, Texas, Barbara Malakowsky and husband, Joe of Antlers, Okla., and Wanda Poindexter of Whitewright, Texas; son, Owen Edwards and wife, Elisabeth of Rowlett, Texas; daughter, Sheila Carter of Austin, Texas; son, Joe Wayne Edwards and wife, Dee Dee of Fort Worth, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Ollie Edwards of Seagoville, Texas; brother, Van Edwards and wife, Ruth of Seagoville, Texas; and sister, Mary Miller of Jacksboro, Texas.

Martha Jane Edwards was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Lee Edwards (McIntosh) and Elizabeth Edwards; husband, Vernon Preston Edwards; son, Roy Edwards; daughter, Brenda Edwards and brother, Buck Edwards.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Williams Funeral Directors. A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in the Williams Memorial Chapel with Jesse Contreras officiating. Shipley, Clera

Clera Shipley, our loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008. She was born on Oct. 30, 1913, in a Pleasant Valley Community and was a member of a Dallas County Pioneer family.

She was a lifelong and founding member of Orchard Hills Baptist Church, and served as a Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Cecil Shipley.

She is survived by her children, Betty and Bill Ratterree, and Cecil (Buddy) and Latreece Shipley; grandchildren Ricky and Debra Ratterree, Mark and Tami Ratterree, Troy and Rosa Ratterree, and Jason Shipley and fiancé Angela Andrews; nine great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, in Williams Memorial Chapel with Dixon Rial officiating. Interment will follow in Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. ~ ~ ~ The Garland News, Wednesday, May 7, 2008


Steen, Thelma
Thelma Steen, 89, of Rowlett was born July 8, 1918, and passed away April 27, 2008. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rowlett for more than 40 years. Mrs. Steen is survived by her son, Allen D. Steen and wife Margaret of Greenville; a grandson, Freddie Davis Jr. of Royse City; granddaughters Janice M. Hicks and Joy Faye Saulters, both of Union Valley, Susan Gail Taylor and husband Billy of Pennsylvania and Mary Elizabeth Davis of Nevada; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Allen Steen; her parents, H.J. and Ida Bell Scott; and a son, Scottie Steen. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Rowlett. Tuggle, Elsie Irene
A celebration of life service for Elsie Irene Tuggle, 82, of Farmersville was held on March 31, 2008 at the Parkway Baptist Church in McKinney. Interment followed at Mills Cemetery in Garland. Mrs. Tuggle died March 28, 2008 in McKinney. Survivors include her daughters, Connie Jane Harrison and husband Michael C. Sr., Betty Ehmer and husband Paul II, Joyce Ann Hulkenberg and husband Rick; son, William Robert "Bill" Tuggle Jr. and wife Lori; grandsons; Michael C. Harrison Jr. and wife Melissa, Paul G. Ehmer III and wife Farrah, James David Ehmer and wife Paulette, William Richard "Ricky" Hulkenberg Jr., Jeremy Logan Hulenberg, Thomas Christian Reagan Hulkenberg, William Travis Tuggle, and Robert Patrick Tuggle; granddaughters, Tamara Lee Crawford and husbandDennis, Judith Lynn Brown and husband Tim, Kristi Dawn Fike and husband Bruin, Esther Joyce Hulkenberg, Natalie June Tuggle, Abigail Ann Hulkenberg, Jessica Amber Tuggle, and Jennifer Ashley Tuggle; brother, W.D.
