William Maston Boyd, a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and a loyal friend passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009, of a heart attack. Bill Boyd was born August 8, 1938 in McKinney, Texas to Nanette and Roland Boyd.

Bill was elected Collin County Criminal District Attorney in 1964 during his first year out of law school, serving as the youngest elected district attorney in America. Bill was a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, American Association for Justice, National District Attorney's Association and listed in "The Best Lawyers in America". Bill was one of 11 attorneys in Texas who received two certifications (one in family law and one in criminal law) the first time the State Bar of Texas recognized certifying specialists in any field of law. Bill built a reputation for handling high-pressure legal matters, both civil and criminal.

Bill took the case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. In recent years, Bill was selected by 1,600 Dallas police officers and firefighters to represent them in a back pay suit. Bill often remarked "It's been an honor to represent them and I am passionate about the merits of the case". Bill is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Barbara Kathleen White Boyd; sons, William Bradley and wife, Stephanie of New Orleans, Louisiana and Blake Edward Boyd of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Megan Boyd, William Byrne Boyd and Nicholas Bernissant Boyd; sister, Betty Boyd Skelton and her husband, Dr. James Skelton of Houston, Texas and their children, Carrie Holcomb, Roland Boyd Skelton and Amanda Yocum; cousins, Barbara McCartney Mason of Oklahoma and John Gay of McKinney; and a long list of extended family and friends
