JAMES SHAVERS

James Eddie Shavers, 78,of DeKalb, Texas, died Thursday, July 25,2002, in a local hospital.
Mr. Shavers was born May 14,1924, in Old Boston, Texas. He was retired from Red River
Army Depot, a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he was Sunday school superintendent,
deacon board chairman and building fund treasurer, and an Army veteran. Survivors include
his wife, Era Jean Shavers of DeKalb; three sons, James Shavers of Houston, Rodney Shavers of
DeSoto, Texas and Fredrick Shavers of Garland, Texas; four daughters, Barbara Johnson of Dallas,
Evie Jackson of Houston and Vonda Leatherwood and LySonia Taylor of Carrollton, Texas; two brothers,
Benjamin Shavers of Oklahoma City and Robert Shavers of Redwater, Texas; one sister, Emma Shavers
of Oklahoma City; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will
be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Hill and W.M. Ames officiating.
Burial will be in Arkadelphia Cemetery, under direction of Haynes Mortuary. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m.
today at the funeral home.
