Jewel Juanita "Nita" Smith, 49,of New Boston, Texas, died Tuesday, October 31,2006, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Smith was born December 16,1956, in Maud, Texas. She was a nurse's assistant and a member of
Unity Missinary Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Charles Smith of New Boston; two sons,
Demorris Smith and Stoney Smith of New Boston; one daughter, ToMorrie Smith of New Boston; her mother,
Evvie Thomas of Texarkana; two brothers, Leon Thomas and Terry Thomas of New Boston; five sisters, Doris
Shields of Maud, Belinda Haggins and Gwendolyn Houston of New Boston, Veronica Keener of Texarkana and
Tina Burton of Altheimer, Ark.; and four grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Hill Baptist
Church with the Rev. Henry Keener officiating. Burial will be in Arkadelphia Cemetery, New Boston, under direction
of Haynes Mortuary. Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
